This insurance is available for visiting friends and relatives, landed immigrants or returning Canadians waiting for provincial health coverage, and for individuals in Canada on work or student visa.
Special Features of this plan
- Extra $50,000 of coverage for accidents with the $100,000 option!
- No maximum age;
- $10,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage is included with every policy to each insured person at NO extra premium (excluding Flight Accident Insurance).
- Covers side trips, to an overall maximum of 30 days, to any country in the world except your country of origin. These trips can happen before or after your visit to Canada (maximum 15 days) or in the middle of your visit, as long as you spend at least 51% of your overall period of coverage in Canada; and you have no gaps in your coverage.
- Significant savings with family rates.
- Standard $50 deductible per person per policy for those under age of 86.
- For “$0” deductible, apply additional 5% premium surcharge; for “$250” deductible option, apply 10% discount to premium;
- A new “Disappearing Deductible” option* (* A deductible of $2,500 per claim applies only to sickness related events unless covered expenses exceed $2,500 in which case a $0 deductible will apply); for details, please click the “Brochure” or “the Premium Rate Table” for full explanation.
- $500 deductible for the age 86 and or above.
- Exclude medical conditions during 180 days prior to the effective date of each policy.

- Stabilized pre-existing conditions are automatically covered if you are age under 60. Between ages 60 to 85, complete a “Medical Declaration” to see if you are eligible to buy the “Stable Chronic Conditions” option to cover stable chronic conditions. (Please refer to “General Exclusions and Limitations” Clause No. 1 “Important Note” on the policy for details.)
- No waiting period if the insurance is purchased before the insured’s arrival date, and the insurance will provide coverage during his uninterrupted flights to Canada.
- 72 hours waiting period for sickness coverage if the insurance is purchased within 30 days of the insured’s arrival date (for age up to 85).
- 7 days waiting period for sickness coverage if the insurance is purchased after 30 days of the insured’s arrival date (for age up to 85).
- 15 days waiting period for the age 86 or above.
- Waiting period could be waived if other coverage with another insurer is in force and there is NO GAP in coverage, proof must be provided, a “Special Consideration” form is required.
- Maximum coverage for policy: 365 days (extendable), for age up to 85.
- Maximum coverage up to the first 180 days (NON-EXTENDABLE), for age 86 or above.
Outline of Coverage
- Treatment by a physician;
- Standard hospital ward charges;
- Out-patient charges (ER visit, clinic, doctor’s office, etc);
- Emergency transportation (ambulance);
- Prescription drugs (limited to $500 if out-patient);
- Diagnostic treatments while hospitalized (limited to $1,000 if out-patient);
- Private duty nursing/licensed home care up to $5,000;
- Chiropodist, chiropractor, osteopath, physiotherapist or acupuncturist up to $1,000;
- Emergency return home;
- Accidental dental treatment up to $1,000 and relief of dental pain up to $300 per year.
